This trunk show will feature all the best from our friends at Nirvana Beads (Czech glass) and Darma Beads (African trade), as well as your favorite Funky stuff – kits, Packers beads and charms, and more! Plus, see LIVE glassblowing and learn about the new glass fusing studio opening in late November!

FALL BEAD CAMP – October 18-20, 2019
Bead Camp is an amazing weekend retreat housed within the former Racine college, circa 1867, just 30 miles south of Milwaukee and 70 miles north of Chicago. With beautiful views on the shore of Lake Michigan, our retreat center is filled with antiques, history and charm… this all inclusive weekend is 48+ hours of creative fun you won’t want to miss.
We have a lovely, light filled bead room, meals and lodging all under the same roof… bring new projects, old projects, and shop in our pop up boutique in the library, including a trunk show of beads from our friends at Cherry Tree Beads. Don’t miss our massage therapist for a little hand and shoulder TLC!
This is our 21st retreat and we know how to host a fabulous creative weekend! Fun people from seven states have made the pilgrimage to a Funky Bead Camp and many locals do too! It’s a getaway no matter how near or far!
We laugh a lot, cheer each other on and end the weekend with new friends and memories.

What’s Next – Open Bead Night
For the past 20+ years, we’ve hosted Open Bead Night on the first Tuesday of every month. We’re not stopping now! As we take time to plan for the next chapter, we’re excited to continue this tradition in various fun places around town. Watch this post, as well as our Facebook page and our email newsletters where we will announce the location of the next Open Bead Night!
August 6, 2019 – 6-9pm at Divino Gelato Cafe! Just north of Funky’s — 245 Main Street. It’s a great ice cream and coffee shop in the old Racine Hotel. We’ll meet in the upper deck. Bring your bead light, latest project and join us!

3rd Annual Door County Bead Retreat
April 2020 – dates to be announced. Join us for an unforgettable experience with old and new friends in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin. We’ll bead all day and night, eat all day and night, laugh all day and night. In between the beading, eating, and laughing we’ll go on fun excursions to local restaurants, wineries, galleries and shops and we’ll sample the creative educational opportunities Door County offers. Join us there in 2020!

What’s Next – Pop-Ups
We’re excited about the next chapter in Funky Hannah’s story, which will include Pop-Ups! Pop-up bead boutiques, pop-up workshops – who knows what will pop up next! We’ve done classes at local businesses and set up our loot at bead retreats. If you have fun ideas about where you’d like to see us pop up, contact us!
This spring we held a fun metal stamping class at Longshot Vinyl in Downtown Racine.

We love to share great new designs and fun new projects with you! Be sure to watch our newsletters, Facebook page and website to find out when new classes are scheduled. We’ve got some fun ideas percolating, including the introduction of “Funky Fridays“, where we will host a daytime open bead which will include the debut of a fun new design and kit in a fun location around Downtown Racine! We’re so excited!
Open til 9pm May 3rd – It’s First Friday !
Be sure to pop in at Funky Hannah’s, 324 Main Street, check out the latest ready made jewelry or be inspired to take a workshop. Artists will be at the torch in the workshop space, demonstrating how fun it is to make glass beads, from 5-9pm.
All of the fun shops, galleries & museums are open late for the First Friday of every month.
While you are here, be sure to head around the corner so you don’t miss the hottest spot during First Fridays – Hot Shop Glass, 239 Wisconsin Avenue. Watch local artisans turn molten glass into something fabulous right before your eyes. April showers bring May flowers so the gallery is filled with lovely glass inspired by and useful for flowers. Paperweights, sculpted flowers, vases and wine tumblers will be made with floral themes during demonstrations from 4-8:30pm.
