Bead Camp – We’re plotting and planning for a very exciting October Bead Camp at the historic DeKoven Center, right here in Racine. Put it on your calendar – you won’t want to miss it! October 20th – 22nd! (And mark your calendars for 2018 Bead Camps! January 19-21 and October 19-21)
We love kids at Funky Hannah’s! Most of us started creating when we were kids and want to make sure we pass on our love of creativity to future generations. We are kids at heart too! We have an amazing line up of activities for this summers creative kids camp. We hope a special kid you know can join us!
Kids age 9+ will love the agenda we have set for this year including: copper etching, resin & crystal clay, loom work, whimsical wire and wrap it up with memory wire to put it all together! There will only be space for 10 kids so don’t delay in registering! It will fill quickly!

Cynthia Rutledge is our guest instructor at BEAD CAMP! She’ll be bringing a new project designed just for camp, PLUS she’ll bring a trunk show of hard to find jewels, many featured in her book.

A new class has been added…duh…it’s springtime and we are all itching to get in our gardens! Join Amanda for the popular ‘Garden Waterfall’ from 1-4pm on Saturday. Class is $25 and includes all the wire, copper connector and steel rod. You provide the beads and crimp beads!

Our Bead Camp has grown into a wonderful weekend that is held 3x a year at the historic DeKoven Center on the shore of Lake Michigan.
Each winter, spring & fall we host one of the most fun filled weekends of the year and draw participants from the local area as well as from 7 states (so far!)
Bead Camp offers a few classes so you can learn new things, loads of time for working on projects you’ve started but never finished, or ones you’ve always wanted to do! Our facility is filled with light and history – originally a college built in the 1860’s! The antiques, art and craftsmanship throughout the building is inspiring! All of your meals & lodging are provided. While we often have fun field trips people can join in if they choose, you never have to leave our amazing space! Meals, rooms, classes and our bead room are all located in the same building. We laugh a lot. We watch a movie while we bead on Saturday night. We even take a shopping run to the bead store in our pajamas after hours.
Our Winter Bead Camp is January 20th – 22nd, 2017!
Mark your calendar for April 15-17, 2016 for our Spring bead camp for grown-ups held at the historic DeKoven Center, just a few miles south of Funky’s, on the shore of Lake Michigan. Registration opens Wednesday, March 9th!!!
Spring has sprung and we have some fun new plans up our sleeve for this camp including a beach walk at the Wind Point Lighthouse (collecting for our Sunday make-n-take), our fabulous massage therapist returns and by request, chair yoga for bead people! Camp also coincides with downtown’s new ART WALK…so if you are inclined to pop in and see some fabulous art, meet other cool artists and see demonstrations of lots of cool stuff, you’ll have a chance for a little outing late Saturday afternoon!
We hope you can join us for this wonderfully fun & creative way to start your new year! We have two amazing classes with great instructors – add the classes to your camp experience or just use the creative time to finish things up, or start something you’ve always wanted to! With nothing to worry about – all meals are provided and everything happens under one roof – you can stay in your lounge wear all weekend and create to your hearts content, surrounded by fun loving like minded souls in a beautiful historic lakefront setting. It’s a weekend you won’t forget!

Bead Camp Retreats for Grown Ups!
Bead camp is a creative retreat for grown ups organized by the fun gals at Funky Hannah’s and held at the historic DeKoven Center. We’ve hosted 12 camps since 2010 and have grown to host 3 retreats a year. Camp is held in the antique filled Taylor Hall on the campus of the DeKoven Center. Built in 1867, the facility is a part of the original Racine College Campus. Our classes, open beading space, meals and lodging are all in the same building! Just two miles south of Funky Hannah’s, the DeKoven center is the perfect location for this not to miss creative weekend! Most stay for the whole weekend. If the retreat has not filled we create commuter packages, usually three weeks prior to the start of the event.

We welcomed the host of ‘Discover Wisconsin’ –Mariah Haberman– and three of her friends to our most recent Bead Camp. They filmed an episode of Girlfriend Getaways, which will air in March of 2016. We are looking forward to seeing the show and honored to be recognized as a girlfriend getaway worthy of being showcased on tv throughout the state!
Join us for our first springtime Bead Camp – by popular demand we have added this extra weekend getaway of fun to our normal schedule of winter and fall camps! Bring your projects or stop in the shop for some inspiration and join us for this Friday evening to Sunday afternoon bead time. We’ve got beautiful space for beading, several classes to pick from if you’d like to learn something new and a few fun activities up our sleeve!
